Kesäviikko meidän kanssa: Lauantai

Lauantai alkaa laiskasti kasin maissa Lontoon hotellissamme. Poikanen syö nuudeleita aamupalaksi. / Saturday begins lazily in our London hotel at eightish. My son is eating noodles for breakfast.

Päivän asu on farkkushortsit ja toppi. Sitten ystävämme Andy soittaa hotellin aulasta, että on saapunut 35minuuttia etuajassa. /Outfits of the day is jeans shorts and a top. Our friend Andy calls from the hotel lobby that he has arrived. 35minutes before predicted!

Jutellaan hotellihuoneessa samaan aikaan viihdytellen poikaa. / We catch up in the hotel room while entertaining Topfish.

Sitten suunnataan Starbucks-aamiaisen kautta Regent's PArkiin eiliseen leikkipuistoon. Näyttää siltä, että puistossa on yhteensä kolme leikkialuetta ja yksi eläintarha. Varsin lapsiystävällinen paikka siis. / We grab breakfast from Starbucks and head for Regent's Park's playground that we found on the previous night. Turns out there is at least three playgrounds and of course also the London Zooin this park, so it's overall a very child friendly place.

Päivä on aurinkoinen. /It's a very sunny day.

Leikkipaikasta löytyy juttuja, jotka eilen jäivät kokeilematta. / We find places in the park which topfish has not tried yet like these huge climbing trees.

Niin kuin esimerkiksi iso riippumattokeinu. / And this huge hammock swing.

Ihanaa / So much fun.

Reilun tunnin jälkeen päätämme käppäillä etsimään ruokapaikkaa... / After an hour or two of playing, we decide to wander to look for a lunch place.

Kävellään koko Regent's Streetin läpi. / We walk down Regent's Street.

Ja päädytään minnekäs muualle kuin Chinatowniin. Tuliks tää kellekään yllärinä. / We end up in Chinatown. Is anyone surprised?

Mennään Ermei-nimiseen ravintolaan, jossa on kalasuihkulähde (joka hypnotisoi poikasen tuntikausiksi) ja ihania kiinalaisherkkuja. Mieheni tilaa kaikkisuosikejani: Mapo tofua, Kuminalammasta ja tietty vihreitä papuja ja Dan Dan nuudeleita! Ah! / We go to one of our favourite restaurants in Chinatown called Ermei. It has a fish fountain which guarantees peaceful eating for adouts as topfish is really mesmorized by it for hours. My husband orders all of my favourites: Mapo tofu, Tea tree mushrooms, Green beans, Kumin beef - YAM!

Ähky. / Yes we eat too much.

Polttaaksemme edes jonkun verran noita kaloreita, päätämme kävellä vähän lisää. / We decide to spend some of those calories by walking a little more.

Prince Charles - elokuvateatterilla on varsin osuva slogani. / Prince Charles cinema has quite a slogan.

Kävellään Leister Squarelle, jossa elokuvateatterit sijaitsevat. / We walk through Leister Square where the cinemas are.

Tykkään tästä alueesta kovin. / I like this part of London a lot.

Jalkaa toisen eteen. / Just keep walking.

Ohitetaan myös Trafalgarin aukio. / We also go past Trafalgar Square.

Mutta sitten mieheni entisenä lontoolaisena ohjaa meidät pikkukujia pitkin Millenium sillan alkuun. / My husband then guides us to the beginning of Millenium bridge through secret passage ways which tourists would never find.

Thames-selfie.

Jääjogurttiketju on nimennyt itsensä pusuksi ja avannut kaksikerrosbussista kahvilan. /A frozen yogurt chain has opened up a afe called 'Snog' in a double deccer bus on the South bank.

Haahuillaan Thamesin etelärannalla turistien keskellä kunnes löydetään etsimämme eli seuraava leikkipuisto, joka muuten sijaitsee aivan London Eyen juurella ja toimii isommillekin penskoille. / We wander a little on the Southbank as I have forgotten where the next children's playground is... If you are travelling London with kids: It's at the bottom of the London Eye and suitable for kids I would say 2-15 years old.

Puisto on aika kiva, mutta aurinko on armoton. / The playground is nice but the sun does not give much mercy to us.

Joten päädytään käppäilemään takaisin keskustaa kohti. / So we decide to leave our famous views of London and walk back to the centre.

Westminsterin sillalla on kaikenlaista menoa. / On Westminster bridge there's all kinds of stuff goig on.

Täytyy sanoa et harvoin nään näin paljon Lontoon perusnähtävyyksistä yhden päivän aikana. Eikä edes käytetty metroa lainkaan. Suosittelen oikeasti kävelemään Lontoossa, se on paljon pienempi paikka kuin metrot antavat olettaa. / Rarely have I seen this many of the famous London sights in one day and we didn't take any tubes! I recommend walking as transport in London - it's much smaller city than those who only take tubes realise.

Sitpä ollaankin takas moikkaamassa Nelsonia Trafalgarilla. / High five to Nelson again at Trafalgar square...

Nykyisin myös 'lentävät kaapu-yodat' ovat tavallinen näky Trafalgarin aukiolla. / Now a days also there's at least some robed flying yodas around the Trafalgar square.

Koska poika on uinahtanut, päädytään Leister Squaren 'Hamstead' -hotellin baariin istumaan. / As our son has fallen asleep, we decide to go to the Hamstead-hotel's bar on Leister square.

Pimms and Lemonade - tätä englantilaisempaa kesäjuomaa ei ole olemassakaan. / There is no summer drink more english than Pimms and Lemonade.

Andy lähtee junaansa ja me herättelemme poikasen. / Andy needs to catch his train and we are waking up the small fish.

Meillä ei ole mikään kiire, joten kävellään takas kohti hotelliamme. / We are not in a hurry, so walkig back to our hotel.

Ohi Chinatownin. / Past the Chinatown.

Kellään ei oikein ole nälkä, joten illallinen on taas koottuja snacksejä Sainsburysta. Poikasen illalliseen kuuluu juustonaksuja, voileipää miedolla cheddarilla, mehua ja mansikoita. / NOne of us are particularly hungry after the afternoon lunch so we dine in the hotel room once more. Boy's dinner includes strawberries, cheese snacks, cheese sandwiches and juice....

Aurinko on vähän paistanut ja hipiä lievästi palanut. / Sun has shown today and me and mr. C senior are quite burned.

Olkapää... / Shoulders...

Postaan vihdoin sen 'How to dance Goth?' artikkelin lumouksesta (koska olen saanut luvat asianosaisilta) ja katson, miten se vetää lähemmäs 500 kävijää parin tunnin aikana julkaisemisesta. Kannatti nähdä vaivaa. / I post my 'How to dance goth article finally' and watch it get like more than 500 readers in a few hours... I was not expecting it to do that well, but it's nice to get recognition every once in a while like this.
Isi ja poikanen katsovat 'Never Say never again' bondia, joka sattumoisin pojan mieletä on hyvä, koska siinä sukellellaan ja sit siinä on hai-kaloja. / My boys are watching 'Never say never again' the really bad Bond film which my son loves as it's got diving and sharks in it. 

Lopulta poitsun energia loppuu. Sen pituinen se lauantai. / Familiar view in our nights: Sleep has finally won with topfish. That was our Saturday.

Kesäviikko meidän kanssa: Perjantai

Perjantaiaamuna herään siihen, että olohuoneeseen, jossa nukun tulee sisään ilmakivääri. Olen hieman hölmistynyt, mutta Ianhan sieltä ilmestyy ampumaan city-kania, joka mutustaa puutarhan kasveja. Pupu pääsee pakoon, mutta ainakin Ian saa hänet säikkymään. / On Friday morning I wake up when an air rifle comes in to the livingroom where I am sleeping. Ian wants to shoot the pesky rabbit which is munching away in his garden. Unfortunately the bunny gets away with a small vound.

No koska olen kerta hereillä klo kasilta, pakkaan sohvan ja juttelen anopin kanssa aamukahvikupillisen kanssa. / Well, as I am awake at 8am, I get a coffee and chat with my mother-in-law.

Rakas pikkuhöpöläisenikin herää ja äidin pusuttelutunnin päätteeksi ahtaa voileipää aamupalaksi naamaansa. Olipas ikävä! / My little topfish wakes up and kisses me up and down. He then stuffs his face with bread and butter. Missed you too my darling!

Mieheni lähtee aamujunalla Lontooseen, mutta me jäämme vielä hetkeksi leikkimään puutarhaan. / My husband takes the morning train to meet his agent, but we still remain to play around in the garden for a few hours in the country side.

Äidin kanssa. / With my mommy finally.

Ianin autosta puhkeaa rengas, joten olemme myöhässä aikataulusta, kun viimein pääsemme Colchesterin aseman läheiseen sisäleikkikseen.  / Ian's car has blown a tyre, so we are late on our schedule when we finally get to an indoor playground near the Colchester station.

Tämä paikka on huippu, koska he tekevät halvalla hyvää ruokaa, jota lapseni syö ja hyvällä tuurilla äiti ehtii jopa tehdä omia hommiaan tunnin ajan. Tällä kertaa saan vihdoin Goottifestareiden kuvat ladattua nettiin, jotta ystäväni voivat kertoa, mitkä niistä saisi julkaista. WLAN on ilmainen! Siis ihan mahtava paikka! / This place is great. Firstly it makes great food that my child eats. Also it's so empty on a weekday when the schools haven't broken on holidays yet, that I actually manage to upload some pictures from my gothic festival to the dropbox... If you think the process of making one blog post is easy, you'd be mistaken. There's many phases in publishing a post like that one:

1. Take the pictures
2. Write the story
3. Edit the pictures in photoshop
4. Upload pictures to ask which ones can I publish (ask the people in them)
5. Get permissions from the subjects
6. Putting the layout together
7. Finally publishing
8. Promoting it in social media so that someone actually reads it

So one blog post might take something like 2-5hours of work easily. If it's a one hour post, that's a quickie. So this is why I have no trouble people making money with their blogs. (Not that I do...) But just sometimes I do think that people feel that the content online happens by miracle. People work hard to produce content online, that's a fact.

Occasionally I can skip some of those steps, but for this one, I needed to get it right, as I don't want to upset anyone. It pays off on Saturday when I finally publish it and it gets 500 visitors in a couple of hours.

No juu, blogipostaus ei ole vielä siis valmis, mutta lounas on. / So we lunch together, Topfish and I.

SItten vihdoin otetaan juna Colchesterista Lontooseen. Valitettavasti missataan tällä junalla Claire-täti, joka olisi ollut mukava nähdä iltapäivällä. / Then we take the train from Colchester to London finally. Unfortunately I already know that we will arrive to Warren Street too late to see auntie Claire who we would have loved to have seen...

Poikaisen mielestä on ihanaa matkustaa junalla. Se on NIIN jännää. / My son loves to travel. Trains are so exciting. He's completely at ease to do this. Having read about Blogging in my Undies experiences of travelling with an austistic kid, I can say that I am the most lucky person on earth to have such a flexible and perfect son. Love you little man.

Matka menee hyvin. Kirjoittelen blogitekstiä kännykällä, poika katsoo maisemia ja leikkii autolla/omenalla. /The travels go smoothly. I write a blog post on my cellphone, topfish looks at the scenery and plays with his car and apple.

Saavutaan Liverpool Streetille. Dejavu, enks mä just ollut täällä...? Siis eilis iltana, no niin olin. / We arrive to Liverpool Street where I just left like 15hours before. Dejavu.

Katsastan metrokartasta, että vaihdettaisiin Tottenhamn Court Roadilla ja sieltä sit Warren Streetille. Metrossa kuitenkin huomaan, että ko. asema on rempassa, joten mennäänkin Oxford Circukselle asti ja siitä sit Victoria-linjalla (vaalean sininen) Warren Streetille. / I look at the metro map and think that we will change trains in Tottenhamn Court Road, but in the metro I see that the whole station is under renovations so we go to Oxford Circus instead and change the circle line to baby blue Victorialine and go to our final destination Warren street.

Pikkuautisti käyttäytyy täysin moitteettomasti ja kävelee vaihdot mukisemattta. Liukuportaat on parhautta. / Small autistic boy behaves so very well and walks all changes holding my hand enthusiastically. Escalators are his favourites. Everything is an adventure. He loves the tube.

Hotellimme Tottenhamn Court Roadin pohjoispäässä on nimeltään Grafton. / Our hotel at the north end of Tottenhamn Court Road is called the Grafton.

Lontoon hotellihuoneeksi tämä on mielettömän kokoinen. / As we are big radisson users, we get instant upgrade to a huge room in London standards.

Kunhan iskä tulee miitingistään, lähdetään tsekkaamaan lähialuetta. / My husband returns from lunch with his agent and we go and explore the surroundings.

Lähellä on Regent's Park, jossa poika voi juoksennella, suuntaamme siis sinne. / Close by is Regent's park where small boy could get rid of his energy by running around so we head there.

Kuuma kesäperjantai on houkutellut puiston täyteen piknik kansaa. / Hot Friday night in London has made a lot of people take their picnic baskets to the park.

Aikamme juoksenneltuamme törmäämme ihan mielettömään leikkipuistoon puiston sisällä. Mikä tuuri! / After some time of running around we run into an amazing playground inside the park. This is purely accidental - how lucky are we???

Poika on hurmoksessa. / My son is in heaven.

Ostetaan snacksejä, jotta jaksetaan vielä hetki puistossa. / We buy some snacks so that we can keep on going in the park even though it's past dinner time (1930).

Mut sit aurinko laskee. Sanotaan poitsulle et pääsee tänne takas aamulla - mikä onni löytää iso ihana aidattu leikkipuisto puolen kilsan kävelymatkan päässä hotelliltamme. Nään, että tämän jälkeen emme harkitsekaan asuvamme muualla kuin Graftonissa jos ollaan Lontoossa. / Then the sun sets. We say to topfish that he can come back in the morning. And we thank our luck again that we've located this FREE huge, wonderful and fenced playground with a small walking distance of our hotel. Somehow I think after this we will never stay anywhere but in the Grafton when in London.

Päädytään take-away dinneriin hotellissa. Kaikki saavat just sitä, mitä haluavat. Minulle sushi-lajitelma ja edamame -pavut Wasabista. Topsulle iso vuori PELKKÄÄ riisiä. / We decide to get the easy take-away dinner to our hotel room. Everybody can choose whatever they want to eat. For me it's a sushi selection and edamame beans from Wasabi. For Tops it's a huge mountain of plain rice.

Hississä. / In the elevator.

Iskä menee hakemaan oman salaatin ja voileivän Sainsburysta. Hän aina sanoo, että kaipaa Lontoossa asumisesta juuri Sainsburyn salaatteja. Ai että ruoka englannissa on halpaa. Kaikki tämä kustantaa ehkä 20eur. / Daddy goes to buy his salad and sandwich from Sainsbury's. He says that's what he misses of living in London. The food is so cheap. All of our three meals and drinks are less than 20euros.

Saan ekstralahjan mieheni kauppareissulta: Pimms in a can! Now I have seen it all!

Tän päivän tilanteesta viisastuneena lataan erilaisia appeja, joilla voisi löytää leikkipuistoja maailmasta... Valitettavasti ne toimivat croud sourcing menetelmällä ja jos leikkipaikkoja ei ole merkitty niin sit niitä ei löydy. Esim meidän tän illan löydöstä ei löydy näistä kolmesta kokeilemastani appista... Mutta huomaan silti pari uutta, joiden olemassaolosta en tiennyt. Täytyykin miettiä, olisiko tässä business-malliksi. Sellainen oli meidän perjantai/ As I am an information systems researcher, I start looking for crowd sourced apps about locating playgrounds near me. I try three, one of which seems to get at least some hits in London. Unfortunately not many... I think there's a business model to be built around it. This is one of those: A great app was made, but no one used it as no one knew about it. The age of today is really tough marketing wise of course. Marketing will matter more than the actual product.
