IMAILE Decision meeting in Viladecans

Kuten tiedättekin, kävin pikareissulla 'Barcelonassa'. Itseasiassa kohteena oli Viladecans, Barcelonan alueen lähiökaupungeista.  / As you are aware, I went on a short trip to Viladecans, the city next to Barcelona.
Tämä ei valitettavasti ollut sellainen reissu, jossa nähdään biitsiä ja Gaudía, vaan pikemminkin neuvotteluhuoneiden ja hotellin seiniä:( / Unfortunately this was not the "Beach and Gaudí" kind fo trip to Barcelona, but more of the 'let's look at meeting room & hotel walls' kind of deal:(
Meitä hostasi Marta Mata -alakoulu. / We were hosted by Marta Mata -primary school Saimme luvan tutustua kouluun, vierailla luokilla ja jopa ottaa kuviakin oppilaista. / We got permission to visit the classrooms and even take some pictures of the students.
IMAILE- Projektiimme osallistuu Viladecansin pormestarin, Carles Ruiz Novellan tiimi. / Our project "IMAILE" is fully supported by the Mayor of Viladecans, Carles Ruiz Novella, who also came to honour us in our decision meeting.
And I am very happy that the policy level of the city is involved, because the reason for our meeting and project is very important: What are the future personal learning environments like?
Miten nämä ympäristöt voisivat tukea lapsia, opettajia ja myöskin vanhempia? / How would these PLEs support children, teachers as well as parents.
Marta Mata, our host school is very progressive and sympathic school. The kids use tablets and there are various learning spaces built within the school. Like this one where the kids could role play 'how to visit a store' for example.
The school is doing so well that they got a special reward from the Mayor's office given to them.

/After visiting the school, we still had a lot to do and discuss as a consortium. We had a decision to make on which two companies/consortiums/service providers would we award the pass to phase 3 piloting of the IMAILE-project. This meant about a million euros to give out, so no pressure...  If someone asks, what is that I do for living, well, this time my job was to be the evaluation board leader of Procurers from 4 different countries around Europe. We had about one month period (over christmas) to go through the 4 bids that the suppliers had given us, and my job was to compile and support the evaluation panel to do their job. This was no small job, I can tell you that. Night and holiday hours were used as well to complete it, but luckily well prepared is half done and actually in the decision meeting, the panel was unanimous to which suppliers should move onto phase 3.

Congratulations Amigo and Almerin! You guys deserve it!
In the evening, we could take a little celebration in the form of dinner.
Ystävälliset espanjalaiset isäntämme ja emäntämme olivat tehneet meille pieniä pähkinöitä ratkottavaksi illan aikana, jotta illasta ei tulisi liian tylsä projektidinneri./Our friendly spannish hosts had given us some puzzles to solve at dinner so it wouldn't be the usual 'boring project dinner'.
First you had to find your partner. Mine was handsome test coordinator from Germany, but we decided to sit at opposite ends of the table, so didn't really speak all night long - sorry M!
Next we had to do something secret to someone else and also get points spotting what weird things others did. This became merry quite fast...
Ruotsalaisia loppukevennyksiä: / Swedish humor at the end of a long day:)
And what these two are up to... You do not want to ask. Overall, a quick but work-filled trip to Spain. / Ja mitä nämä touhuavat... No ehkä tää kokous on nyt päättynyt. Kaikenkaikkiaan lyhyt, mutta työteliäs reissu "Barceloonaan". Over and out.
