This weekend, we have Finland's internal Gasshuku in Jyväskylä. This post only in English, because I am out of time... Sorry Finnish readers.
On day 1: The teacher was Juha sensei who talked to us about his own personal history and reminded us about how each Gasshuku only gives you a small bit of insight. Not to be worried about not remembering everything. Humans learn piece by piece.
He also talked of the 'Golden' days of Shorinji Kempo in Finland, the 80's to the mid 90's.
Then we looked at some Zhanshin, movement. It was nice to see some old and new faces from all over Finland.
In the do practise, Juha sensei's training partner had started to wear ear plugs some time ago, because - well, the bangs;)
Even Otso got punched to the face.
Kirsi and I are training for next summer's world championships in San Francisco.
Teemu sensei from Hämeenlinna promised to be our coach.
He has maybe the most experience of competing in embukais with different partners in the last 15 years, from Finland.
We truly appreciated his input, even though it meant that we made changes in almost all the parts and that means, starting the 'remembering' process from the start... again. But I am not unhappy. We have a much better embu after this weekend, so thank you very much.

This year, there are two couples from Finland participating in the games of the summer. Coach Teemu is in the middle. Let's see how fast it will take him to regret saying "You can use me any way you like..." We will soon call upon you to come and wash our windows, yes!
Thank you for the teaching and training companionship. Another great weekend with Shorinji Kempo <3.Pictures of me (c) Timo Mäki-Kuutti
