Väitöspäivä

Tänään on se päivä, jota olen valmistellut viimeisen 9 vuotta. Nyt ei voi enää lukea, täytyy vaan hypätä ja toivoa, että matkan varrelta on tarttunut tarpeeksi laskuvarjoa korvien väliin, niin ettei tule palasina alas maahan. Tänään on myös päivä, jolloin joudun päättämään, että seuraanko kolleegojeni ohjetta 'You should be naked underneath the robe'... Varajohtajamme ja ystäväni tohtori Luoma sanoi minulle tällä viikolla, että väitöstilaisuudessa tapetaan tohtoriopiskelija ja karonkassa tohtori syntyy uudelleen. Tänään on siis kuljettava pitkä matka. Kiitokset kaikille tsempistä, onnitteluista ja etenkin avusta, jota olen saanut ylenpalttisesti. Kiitos./

Today is the day that I have officially prepared for the last nine years... Now there's no more preparations. One can only hope that I have learned enough of a parachute during those years, so that my hitting to the ground will not be too aggressive. It is time for me to decide if I will follow my colleagues' advice and not wear anything underneath the robe. It is time for the PhD student to die in the public defence and for the Doctor to be born in the Karonkka, as my friend and vice head of department kindly noted for me this week.  Thank you for the enormous love, greetings and help that I have gotten in the last days and throughout my whole struggle.
