Mun Xi'an ja aamu. Kaikki pilvenpiirtäjät ja autot siisteissä riveissä ja tallessa. / My Xi'an in the morning. All skyscrapers and cars accounted for in lines.
Aamu-Eetu kyllästyi soijamaitovalikoimaan aamiaisella ja osti purkin appelsiini mehua. Kylläpäs maistui. /Morning-Eetu was not very impressed by the soy milk selection of the CHinese breakfast so he purchased a full crayton of Orange juice which we then drank with pleasure.
What do you mean I look like I've been to a party last night...?
As usual, the morning included a nice little walk to the campus. But not before getting coffee from Pasific.
Prof. Li had gotten a shiny new aparatus to the wall which greeted us with our names on:)
Morning's task is to familiarize ourselves into a BUC-business model website. BUC means Business to University Customers, which is a big thing in the e-Commerce of China, as many campuses are actual mini ecosystem size.
Kangas Service Jameista elikkäs tapahtumasta, jossa hän viime syksynä lukitsi 40 opiskelijaa 40tunniksi putkeen tuottamaan yhteensä 100 digitaalisen palvelun ideaa. / Dr. Luoma presents next something about Kangas Service Jam event where he locked 40 students into one space for 40 hours to come up with a total of 100 digital service business ideas.
In this lab, collaboration is very efficient.
/ We produce a timeline for the next two years of this project's activities.
Discussion moves onto the 10 years anniversary of eBEREA network.
Local e-Commerce company representative is kind enough to invite us for lunch.
Food is marvellous as always in China.
Specifically these cumin and chili ribs were such that I am missing CHina as I write this.
/ After stuffing ourselves silly, it is the right time to get some exersise time in.
Red Wang shows Eetu how to do push ups with one hand, which immediately makes the girls shout at him: "Oh stop showing off".
Mittelöt alkakoon!/Let the games begin!
It is important to have a fair and beautiful judge:)
Yesterday at dinner we have agreed that today's match will be about Old generation vs. New generation, so that one Finn pairs up with one Chinese - Professors vs. Eetu/Me and Red Wang... Prof. Jups is good at mental interference.
Badminton is serious business.
After three hours of intenstive playing, the older generation beats the young ones:)
And we walk back to our hotels to shower.
Traffic at Yanta Xi Lu. Love it.
These are my hoods.
Smiling Silver Foxes spotted in the blue moment of Xianese night.
Good sports, better mind, right? Take a look at this picture below. I feel ever so blessed to be able to divide my time in between China and Finland. Sometimes the view from my home window looks like this...
After a quick shower, Li Pei takes us a didi taxi (local über) to the Da Yanta area.
We are dining at a special muslim restaurant.
/Part of tonight's entertaiment is to break a bread into small pieces to the bottom of a meat and noodle soup/stew. You can select your own meat type as well as how much broth goes in it.
Smaller the pieces, more you will impress the cook and he will cook it better for you, apparently.
This is my craft.
Today's mandatory toilet selfie. Muslim toilets are so chic!
One more night with old friends.
When you add coriander and chili to the soup, it suddently becomes best stew ever. My friends have a hard time believing how I've managed to live almost one year in Xi'an and never have tried this before. This is one of their local basic foods. Delicious!
Here on the right is Li Pei, who is defending his PhD thesis this week. He and I have had a very similar timing in our PhDs, I am so proud of him defending 1,5months earlier than me!
/This couple however had gotten married (well, in the register's office) without my permission! I take some credit for their love as it all begun in Huashan in November 2013, after I had conveniently asked the both of them in the metro there that are you single... And somehow when we came down the mountain, they were not single anymore:) They have chosen their real wedding day to be the next day of my Defence in April, which makes me incredibly unhappy as I really wanted to be there so so much. But of course I am overjoyed that they are finally getting married and that I was lucky enough to witness this happiness up close.
Sellainen oli torstai mulle rakkaassa Xi'anissa viime viikolla. / And that concluded Thursday in my beloved Xi'an last week. Miss you guys!
