Tänä vuonna suomalaiset sukulaiseni päättivät, että haluavat viettää joulua tahoillaan, joten me päätimme lähteä viettämään joulua Englantiin toista vuotta peräjälkeen.
Happy Christmas to you all from UK. Over the years I have learned to love Christmas in UK - there's flowers and cards and candles everywhere - you don't even miss the snow that much.
My mother-in-law has once again cooked for weeks to get everything ready: The sprouts, the stilton and salmon rings, the guinness soaked pork and the canapees, everything superb and luxurious indeed.
The carrols are on the radio and the athmosphere is only distrubed by the ignorant neighbors walking past the house on the field. First world problems.
Christmas eve has been very relaxed.
I had a good lie in with my son in the morning.
There's been a lot of talking from a little boy. His present to us was that he learned to say 'Nice' with a lot of determination, just like his daddy. He's also been saying 'I wish' 'I know' 'I see' and 'Why'... These he gets from his grandmother. I am wondering when the first swear words come out as they are a very permanent faculty of this household. So far all he says is: "oh... Swat!" Which we think if terribly clever of course.
What a treat to get a kiss from a smallish boy first thing in the morning. He has been very cuddly today and wanted to spend excess time in my lap. Like he knows it would be a special day.
We went to the indoor playground too, where mum ran after him tickling up and down the wirly-wirly slide 25 times. They don't call them 'Gyms' for no reason, I'm telling you! This is one of those days I feel like I have got everything in life that I could possibly want and more.
What a day, how blessed am I to be here, with these people, in this beautiful house, spending Christmas with my loved ones.
Yes of course far away from my own relatives, who I miss dearly, but what a great year of our lives when we can what's up about our times and feel present even when we are not exactly there.
Christmas makes me very thoughtful, yet happy. I wish you all a great and peaceful Christmas time.
