When in Shanghai, we visited the Jing'an temple. This was found by my husband when walking to the centre from Shanghai West, along Nanjing Road west. It's a great and unique temple right in the middle of SHanghai and provides excellent photographic opportunities. What was even more interesting, while we were there, a lot of monks were chanting for the sick and dieing and I think someone had also just died. There was huge amouts of fake money burned for the dead in the temple and also I managed to get pictures of monks which I ordinarily would not get. I was on a balcony, so I didn't disturb their rites... Overall worth a visit if you are in Shanghai, even if you think like "I have seen so many temples". This one is very differently built from many others. It's beautiful and easy to reach. A great way to spend a couple of ours on your way to the Bund.
