Vappubrunssilla Kahvila Muistossa

 Kerrankin ajankohtaista postausta ihan tältä päivältä. / For once my post is actually coming from event that happened TODAY.

 Suomessa on tänään vietetty työnjuhlaa, elikkäs Vapun päivää. / Today it's labour day, the May Day, the 1st of May, which in Finland is kind of a big deal.

 Vappu on opiskelijoiden juhla, mutta opiskelijaelämästä vieraantuneet viettävät Vapun päivää picnicin sijaan usein brunssin merkeissä. /The Mayday is a students celebration, but when the students head for the picniques outside, the slightly older folks (like yours truly) head for brunsses.

 Minulla ei oikeastaan ollut mitään Vappusuunnitelmia. / I was kind of without a plan this year.

 Tiesin, että olin lapsukaisen vahtivuorossa, kun iskän työviikko viime viikolla jäi lyhykäiseksi lapsen sairastelun parissa... Joten eilen kysäisin sitten brittityökaveriltani, että mahtaakohan hänellä olla suunnitelmia. / I knew I would be on child care duty as my husband kindly looked after topfish last week when he was ill. So I asked my british colleague if she has any plans.

 Pikainen soitto Kahvila Muistoon Toivolan Vanhalla Pihalla varmisti, että suosikkipöytäni olisi vapaana klo 14. kattaukseen. / Fast call to Cafe Muisto (= Memory) in the Toivola Old Yard confirmed to me that my favourite table would be free at 14.

 Katsottuani vaatekomeroani, olisin halunnut laittaa valkoisen mekon. Katsottuani säätiedotusta tulin kuitenkin mukavuudenhaluiseksi ja farkuissa mentiin. /I would have wanted to wear a white dress, but at the end, the convenience won as the weather was still quite windy and cold.

 Ostin taannoiselta Helsingin reissultani Indiskasta nahkaisen intiaanihenkisen hapsukassin. En varmasti koskaan kyllästy inkkarimuotiin, se on niin coolia. / I bought an indian style bag from my trip to Helsinki the other week. I stll love that style - conjac brown, blue and white, cannot go wrong with that...

 Toivolan vanha piha on sitten mukava paikka. Kirjoittelin siitä aiemmin täällä. / The old buildings complex called 'Toivolan vanha piha' is a great place to visit when you are a tourist in Jyväskylä. I wrote about it in here.

 Toivolan Vanhan Pihan kahvilan nimi on 'Muisto', ja se on ainakin minun autistipojalleni varsin sopiva paikka lounaalle/brunssille. /The cafe in this place is called 'Muisto' and it's a safe place for at least my autistic son to bring for a lunch/brunch or coffee.

 Tosin kannattaa pyytää pöytää leikkinurkkauksen vierestä ja silloin ainakin A:n kanssa homma toimii erinomaisesti. / When you ask for a table next to the play corner for kids, the adoults get to eat in peace.

 En ole pahemmin Jyväskylän brunsseja käynyt läpi, mutta olen ajatellut aloittaa sellaisen perinteen ja arvostella niitä hieman tänne blogin puolelle myös. Cafe Muiston brunssilla olen ollut kahdesti - molemmilla kerroilla taisi olla suunnilleen samantyyppinen valikoima: Useampaa salaattia, lohta, aurinkokuivattuja tomaatteja, katkarapumarinaadia, lohitahnaa, lämpimiä kasviksia, kanaa jne. /I haven't really gone through that many brunches in Jyväskylä, but I think I will try to do that more in the future and also write about it here in the blog. This one has got great salads, salmon tartar, scrimps, but also things like bread, sausages, meatballs, potatoes, vegetables for kids. I did not have to go home hungry and neither would a vegetarian go.

 Jälkkäripöydässä oli tällä kertaa pannaria, hilloa, kermavaahtoa, hedelmäsalaattia, jäätelöä, erinomaista hyydykekakkua, munkkeja ja mokkapaloja. Tietysti siman ja kahvin kera. / In the dessert table there was pan cakes, jam, whipped cream, fruit salad, ice cream, cake, donuts and chocolate tart... With Finnish Mayday mead drinks and coffee.

Brunssin hinta oli 32eur/henki. Sen päälle olisi tietty saanut vaikka pullon kuplivaa, mutta edellispäivän alkoholiannosten päänsärky oli sellainen viesti minulle, että pysyttelin simassa. / The price was 32euros per person. on top of that you could have of course bought some sparckling wine or something but we stuck with water this time.

 Syödä saa niin kauan kun tykkää. A jaksoi leikkiä tässä kulmassa yli 2h. / You can eat as much as you like for as long as you like. A lasted for more than 2h in this playarea.

 Annan brunssille arvosanaksi 4/5 - Jyväskylän mittakaavassa. Ehkä siitä uupui ne juustot...Ja odottelen edelleen, että joku tarjoaisi munakasta brunssilla tässä kaupungissa... Mikähän siinä tuotteessa on sellaista, että sitä ei saa mistään..? Kaiken tän fitness hössötyksen keskellä. Miljöö on mahtava ja ehkä Jyväskylän idyllisimpiä paikkoja. Autistipojan kanssa ihan mahtava - saa rauhassa syödä ja energian poltto onnistuu pihalla ennen ja jälkeen brunssittelun. /I give this brunch 4/5 in Jyväskylä standards. There was no cheese or omelets! Which could upgrade it for me personally. How difficult is it to get an omelette in Jyväskylä on a Sunday morning. Try sometime! Unless you've spent the night in a hotel or at someone's home, I can tell you it's pretty darn hard. Even with all this Fitness fuss... Still, no one is offering omelettes. Enterpreneurs, wake up! But Saxell has done a great job with this place. It looks fabulous and the photo ops are endless. It's also very good for entertaining an young autistic boy. Lots of running around space and the kids corner so that we can eat in peace. Great place all together.

 Brunssin jälkeen voi tutkia kiveystä. /After the brunch, one can entertain themselves by throwing rocks.

 Paikka soveltuu hyvin vaikka nelivuotiskuvien ottoon... / Overall a great place to go and take 4-year-old pictures...
