Nou parties, nou nothing. Täytynee järjestää minibileet sitten Helsinki - Peking lennolla, koska siellä näemme seuraavan kerran.
Olen erittäin ylpeä saavutuksestasi, rakas!
Today my family got its first Doctor. And by doctor, I mean PhD, not the medical version. My husband has passed his viva in the University of Wales, where he defended his thesis on 'History of Japanese Animation'. This process was somehow motivated by me doing mine about five years ago - when my long term scholar and author husband decided on a whim, that perhaps he should also have an academic title. And then we could call each other 'Dr. Clementses' when greeting in the morning. Of course my own PhD is still very much in the process, but thinking of the author merits of my husband's career of writing over 30 fact books on China and Japan by that time, I was pretty sure he would finish before me. He's an author by profession, so this was more like a hobby project. I'm doing a PhD because I feel like it, not because I actually need it that much... Still, nice to have!
British Film Institute bought the rights to the book, and published it because the administrative process of handing in the manuscript to the time it was published took 2,5 years(!)... So you can buy here.
British dissertation or viva events are rather different than in Finland. They are behind closed doors and infront of a commitee, rather than one external opponent. So as he was having his viva today, me and Tops were in Finland. No parties no nothing. So we shall celebrate in the plane to China as that's when we are next sitting down together.
I am so proud of your accomplishment, congratulations darling!
